A wonderful post bringing such welcome hope to a challenging time Eliza ❤️ I've been filled with such anxiety with all this relentless heat, but it's properly raining here in Bedfordshire now and I feel so happy and relieved 😌 The birds seem as pleased as I am as they've been so much more active this past hour or so. I hope it'll rain in Hertfordshire tonight too Eliza and give your lovely little garden a much needed soak 🤞

Oh that’s so lovely to hear! Unfortunately we didn’t get any here (apart from the one cloud!) and so for us the wait continues. The bird bath is very popular, but like you say, nature always responds to the real deal. I hope it’s helped your anxiety a little and I hope that we can all have a bit more rain sooner rather than later 🩵

Great message, Eliza. And the proof is in the pudding- what a fantastic array of wildlife sightings from your garden, including the good old hummingbird hawkmoth!

The lonely cloud that delivered a welcome downpour was also quite magical. ✨

It’s such an honour to have so many visitors and to be able to provide them some food or shelter. The hawk moth came back again yesterday!

And that one and only cloud remains a magical mystery ✨

All your efforts are reaping benefits- for wildlife and for nature. Double-win!

Plus you are spreading wonderful lessons about things we can actually control in our local environment 👏👏👏

I will restack this post soon. Love it!

Thank you Simon! I’m really glad it resonated with you. It helps give a sense of being able to do something in times when I think we all feel a little powerless

Super article Eliza it sounds like you have a garden much like my own - always looking for how i can increase my diversity and its so important that I provide the habitats for plants, animals and especially insects.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it Mark. What a valuable and wonderful thing it is that you’re doing to support the plants and creatures you share your space with. Now, more than ever, it feels vital. Thank you for reading and taking the time to share your own experiences ✨

Great vole photo! I should definitely create a mini pond in my garden, thank you for the reminder.

It’s so fast Suzie! I just had to keep snapping and hope I caught a semi decent shot! And yes, it’s so fun to watch the wildlife around and in the water :-)
